The conclusion was underwhelming at best, I finished the script and said, 'so what?' Why did I just read 160 pages of plot that could have been easily fit into a 10 minute short story. Had this been submitted under a different pseudonym, if it wasn't Tarentino's name behind it, I strongly believe studios would pass on it or want heavy rewrites. Once again though, this is Tarentino and it was only a first draft and I believe it will get better on the second, third, fourth draft. I know this is an old thread, but. I'm not a big fan of Tarantino.especially in his last 5 or 6 movies, so maybe my opinion was already colored before going in.

I just found out the Hateful Eight script was online (because clearly i've been living under a rock) and was wondering if anyone had read it, and what was your impression of the script? I am a little reluctant to read it as I am super keen for the film, but at the same time I am looking at all-in-one-location films as an experiment with drama and suspense (how do you keep people engaged through only exploring one location etc.) Is it worth a read? Or is it best to see the film before reading the script? Sorry, repost of a previous response to this, but my two cents. Like these guys have posted, it was a first draft, so you have to take it with a grain of salt that being said, it is a great first draft, but still disappointing.
Over on, a similar request was addressed by a poster who surmised that the leak was still confined to professional circles—and noted Tarantino’s historical indifference to Internet leaks, so long as they occurred after production was underway. Tarantino confirmed this attitude to Deadline, saying, “I do like the fact that everyone eventually posts it, gets it and reviews it on the ‘net. Frankly, I wouldn’t want it any other way. I like the fact that people like my shit, and that they go out of their way to find it and read it.” Thus far, it appears the only halfway solid proof of the “online” leak is this fairly dubious image of a title page, by Jeff Sneider, a film reporter for TheWrap. Perhaps, then, the script is being circulated electronically, just not through a or Zippyshare URL that anyone can get to. REVIEW: The film will not be appearing on cinema screens any time soon as that he would be publishing it as a book because of the leak. He told Deadline last week that because he could not trust the six confidantes he showed the script to, he had 'no desire to make it. I'll publish it. Although few people have been able to stop the script getting into even more pairs of hands - with The Wrap saying there is a link being created for interested parties to download it from the internet - nobody has come forward to admit they were the person responsible. Tarantino has filed a lawsuit against Gawker Media for publishing a link to the 146 page script.
