Tarantino's comments received national media attention and several police groups in the United States pledged to boycott The Hateful Eight and his other films. President Patrick J. Lynch said: 'With nearly one million law enforcement officers in this country who have families and friends who support them, the impact that police have economically on a product or project is immense. The law enforcement boycott of cop-hater Quentin Tarantino's movie is one demonstration of that economic power.' Tarantino responded that he was not a 'cop hater' and would not be intimidated by the calls for a boycott. Richard Johnson of the called The Hateful Eight a 'box-office disaster, and the police officers who boycotted the movie are taking credit'.

He said: 'Violence is hanging over every one of those characters like a cloak of night. So I'm not going to go, 'OK, that's the case for seven of the characters, but because one is a woman, I have to treat her differently.' I'm not going to do that.'

Why put all this bullshit in the script? Who is he trying to impress other than himself? He's at a point where he could hand in a script with just gibberish on it and they'd end up saying 'Whatever you want Quentin!

It comes as the FBI has visited Alcon's California headquarters as part of its investigation into the leak - which first came to light earlier this week, ahead of the film's Christmas Day release date. The online magazine explained that this means they would be fired and criminally investigated. Other possibilities include that an employee gave the DVD to a friend or family member, who subsequently shared it online - or that a person who does not work at the company stole it. According to the Reporter, a 'Web Watch' report on the leak claims that an office assistant called 'Tom' signed for the screener at Alcon's headquarters at 10390 Santa Monica Blvd, Los Angeles. A hacker, or a group of hackers, then uploaded the DVD to the web, using the name 'Hive-CM8'. It was downloaded more than 200,000 times on its first day, it is reported.

However, rebutted this claim in an article titled 'No, Police Boycotts Against Quentin Tarantino didn't cause Hateful Eight to Flop', writing that the film, while not as commercially successful as some of Tarantino's other films, was not a 'box-office disaster' and cast doubt on claims that a boycott had a strong effect on sales. Race issues [ ] Tarantino told that race issues were part of his creative process and were inescapable, saying: 'I wasn’t trying to bend over backwards in any way, shape, or form to make it socially relevant. But once I finished the script, that’s when all the social relevancy started.' He told the Telegraph he wrote The Hateful Eight to reflect America's fraught racial history, with the splitting of the cabin into northern and southern sides and a speech about the perils of 'frontier justice'. Scott of observed that the film rejects the Western genre's tradition of ignoring America's racial history, but felt its handling of race issues was 'dumb and ill-considered', and wrote: 'Tarantino doesn’t make films that are 'about race' so much as he tries to burrow into the bowels of American racism with his camera and his pen. There is no way to do that and stay clean.' Gender issues [ ] Some critics expressed unease at the treatment of the Daisy Domergue character, who is the subject of repeated physical and verbal abuse and finally hanged in a sequence which, according to of, 'lingers on Daisy's death with near-pornographic fascination'.

The hacker(s) also revealed plans to upload dozens more DVD screeners. Another leak: The FBI probe into the leak of Tarantino's eighth film comes a year after the Academy-Award-winning filmmaker (pictured last Tuesday) put the movie on hold after a copy of the script was made public The Hateful Eight is set to be released on the same day as Fox’s The Revenant. The latter has also been leaked on streaming sites. The FBI probe into the leak of Tarantino's eighth film comes a year after the Academy-Award-winning filmmaker put the movie on hold after an unauthorised copy of the script was made public. At the time, Tarantino insisted he had only lent the script to a small group of actors. He fumed to: 'I'm very, very depressed, I finished a script, a first draft, and I didn't mean to shoot it until next winter, a year from now. I gave it to six people, and apparently it's gotten out.'

A leaked copy of Quentin Tarantino's The Hateful Eight has been traced back to a top film executive by the FBI, it was today reported, as agents launched a probe into the connection. The pirated copy carries a digital watermark that identifies it as an awards DVD screener that was sent to Andrew Kosove, the co-chief executive of Alcon Entertainment, according to sources.

Tarantino has angrily scrapped plans to make the movie because the script leaked, and Hollywood assistants are now promulgating a link anyone can use to download a PDF of the script that will no doubt end up online in the coming days. Tarantino accused agents for one of the three actors he had met with for parts —, and Michael Madsen — though he seemed to suspect it was Dern’s team at CAA. CAA denied it was the culprit, and the WME-repped Tarantino said he would still happily work with Dern. Interesting side-note: Tarantino said he was scrapping the project, for now,. They run into a Southerner named Chris Mannix on the road, and three of them, along with their driver — a living prisoner and three dead bounties strapped to the roof — arrive at a haberdashery to take shelter from an oncoming blizzard. Yet the proprietors, Minnie, Sweet Dave and her other colleagues, are nowhere to be found. In their place are four men, a Southern general (likely Dern), an alleged hangman, a Frenchman named Bob and a cowboy named Joe Gage. Mistrust, coffee and violence ensue.

Even though we didn’t cover it here on Sick Chirpse this week, you might have heard that Quentin Tarantino cancelled his next movie – a western titled ‘The Hateful Eight’ – because his script got leaked, despite the fact he only showed it to about six people. Although he’s suitably butthurt about the movie – so much so that he’s completely cancelled it – Quentin Tarantino has shrugged it off, saying he’s got ten more ideas where that came from. Ataboy. He’s blaming Michael Madsen’s agent or Bruce Dern’s agent, but nobody has yet claimed responsibility for the leak.

The conclusion was underwhelming at best, I finished the script and said, 'so what?' Why did I just read 160 pages of plot that could have been easily fit into a 10 minute short story. Had this been submitted under a different pseudonym, if it wasn't Tarentino's name behind it, I strongly believe studios would pass on it or want heavy rewrites. Once again though, this is Tarentino and it was only a first draft and I believe it will get better on the second, third, fourth draft. I know this is an old thread, but. I'm not a big fan of Tarantino.especially in his last 5 or 6 movies, so maybe my opinion was already colored before going in.

I just found out the Hateful Eight script was online (because clearly i've been living under a rock) and was wondering if anyone had read it, and what was your impression of the script? I am a little reluctant to read it as I am super keen for the film, but at the same time I am looking at all-in-one-location films as an experiment with drama and suspense (how do you keep people engaged through only exploring one location etc.) Is it worth a read? Or is it best to see the film before reading the script? Sorry, repost of a previous response to this, but my two cents. Like these guys have posted, it was a first draft, so you have to take it with a grain of salt that being said, it is a great first draft, but still disappointing.

Over on, a similar request was addressed by a poster who surmised that the leak was still confined to professional circles—and noted Tarantino’s historical indifference to Internet leaks, so long as they occurred after production was underway. Tarantino confirmed this attitude to Deadline, saying, “I do like the fact that everyone eventually posts it, gets it and reviews it on the ‘net. Frankly, I wouldn’t want it any other way. I like the fact that people like my shit, and that they go out of their way to find it and read it.” Thus far, it appears the only halfway solid proof of the “online” leak is this fairly dubious image of a title page, by Jeff Sneider, a film reporter for TheWrap. Perhaps, then, the script is being circulated electronically, just not through a or Zippyshare URL that anyone can get to. (Sneider did not reply to demands that he post a download link for the full document.) That was quick! The Tarantino cover page — Jeff Sneider (@TheInSneider) Of course, The Hateful Eight may yet become a reality.

REVIEW: The film will not be appearing on cinema screens any time soon as that he would be publishing it as a book because of the leak. He told Deadline last week that because he could not trust the six confidantes he showed the script to, he had 'no desire to make it. I'll publish it. Although few people have been able to stop the script getting into even more pairs of hands - with The Wrap saying there is a link being created for interested parties to download it from the internet - nobody has come forward to admit they were the person responsible. Tarantino has filed a lawsuit against Gawker Media for publishing a link to the 146 page script. According to, Tarantino's lawsuit said: 'Rather than merely publishing a news story reporting that Plaintiff’s screenplay may have been circulating in Hollywood without his permission, Gawker Media crossed the journalistic line by promoting itself to the public as the first source to read the entire Screenplay illegally.'
