Auto Handbrake activation is not possible through BimmerCode. Have to try my luck elsewhere. I read somewhere on the net that this is possible through E-Sys. I will be glad to support fellow BHPians in Bangalore to activate these features if they need / interested.
Every time I try to install the drivers it just tells me that they won't work on that device.
Another screen will pop up, click the option on the left side that says someting about coding or recoding. Wish I was able to send a step by step process with pictures but I'm at work. There are really only a couple of the modules that I messed with, alarm (parking lights flash, clown nose), daytime running lights US. Just click around but be careful not to click the wrong thing.
Your computer will try several things. It'll attempt to find the driver and succeed, or not. Doesn't matter. Go to and scroll down to the box with listing of drivers of different operating systems. Since we're doing windows, I'm only covering that. The 1st row shows windows.
Then, plug it in. Your computer will try several things. It'll attempt to find the driver and succeed, or not.
That's really annoying since it took a while for the try-n-error to exchange the cable. I thought there was a problem with the car. Another problem is that in older cars, for example my 2004 3-series, it will not read engine codes.

V1.4.0 is the update version of. The required operating system is Windows XP. But I have hooked it up successfully on Dell 360 Windows 7 64 bit system. Following are my attempts, you can have a try.

I have tried the method I read on another thread here about deactivating driver signature verification, and that made no difference. Does anyone know what I can do to get this working?
I have it set up through vmware and straight through windows 7 by way of the method I stated above. However, I do notice a drawback with it being on the native windows platform. From time to time, when I attempt to connect to the car, it doesn't recognize it, stating ike can't be found. Now it might have something to do with the fact that i had recently used ncs expert through windows xp vmware. When I switch out cables and use ncs expert, I select an option allowing it to switch that usb port over to vmware when I'm done i have to switch it back and it may be messing with the driver. Small inconvenience since if that causes any frustration, I just switch back to windows xp vmware and connect with the coding software. It takes a little more time and is slower through the virtual emulator but works nonetheless.
One of the many reasons I don't use Win10. I would try old FTDI drivers to get a connection to the FTDI chip. Then read the FTDI chip eeprom with MProg to make sure the new Win10 drivers didn't erase the device ID. The new FTDI drivers tend to do that to certain clone chips.
I don't know what the truth is anymore! Well, the truth is I uncovered a lot of lies by bmw.
Update: Thinking it can be used on a Mac also. I use a Mac sometimes no problem with a windows VMware XP virtual machine and ISTA-D installed. As I said there is no better diagnostic software. Its dealer level software and It's freely available now all over the Internet. Plus it's very user friendly!
Other than a scan I could not see any options. Am I missing something? This took me a while to figure out as well. After the scan, double click on the various 'found' modules.
I can give you download links. They are around 10gb. In ISTA-D you have a connection manager or how you wish to connect the computer to the odb port.

One of the reasons why the white board K+DCAN cables fail so often. Easy to reflash back though. I have successfully revived non working white board K+DCAN cables using this method. Last edited by 328 Power 04; at 12:07 PM.
All the way at the right hand side, under comments, you'll see 'setup executable'. You can download the drivers themselves but this thing does it all for you. Once downloaded, install it. A black DOS like window pops up and installs it. The box usually disappears in like 5 seconds. Once done, go to control panel, then device manager and right click on bmw scanner (usually under other devices) to select update driver software.
I've determined that after uninstalling the device, unplugging the adapter, and plugging the adapter back in, the drivers are not installing at all, even though the BMW Scanner software says that they are installed. I think the software is just seeing that the drivers are on my computer, but I cannot install them on the 'BMW Scanner V14x' device. Does anyone know what drivers will be able to install on the BMW scanner adapter on Windows 10?
• After driver is well installed, ready to run software. • Better use laptop running Windows XP home. Do not open software directly after install software and connect with vehicle. How to Download BMW 1.4.0 Scanner Software onto an Apple/ Mac Computer: Reference.
Google ftdi chip d2xx drivers and you will find working drivers for windows 10. I am running it on windows 10 computiNATEor (Posted on 2016-05-19) •. It's not the easiest tool to get up and running, but once it's working, it's an invaluable asset in my toolbox. I like it so much, I bought two, just in case one fails. It's a perfect, lightweight companion to the more powerful INPA/EDIABAS computer system. I love how easy it is to reprogram modules, and especially, the lighting computer.
But afaik all models which are covered by bmw Scanner 1.4.0 Need this. Any other opinions/experiences? The Installation guide you refered to worked for me with all x64 machines Running Windows 7 and above except one machine. No idea what the matter was there. Last edited by Sebastian46; at 07:15 AM. First off sorry about the delay, this stuff just frustrates me so I can't focus on it too long!
Try the instructions in the 7th post here: Windows 10 should be very similar. I had to desolder some shorted pins in my adapter before it would work.Desolder? The only thing that happened multiple Times with interfaces (BMW Scanner or k+dcan) is that the shortcut between pin 7&8 was missing. Those Selters have no idea what they are selling and in the 'Support' they are pretending to have 'engineers' to solve the problems. Nur the only thing they recommend is to try Windows XP, 7 or 8 which always Leads to the Same issue. You Will Not be able to access any module besides DME (maybe also DDE) as Long as Pin 7&8 are Not soldered together. I know that some newer E Models do Not need (meaning they Must be separated) those pins bridged.
After reading through many of them, they only provide partial instructions, instructions even myself, an expert (on a scale between novice, advanced, expert, master) computer user struggled, that is for a few hours. It did make my head boggle up though. So here it is ladies and gents. Go ahead and install the bmw scanner software. After you're done, plug the scanner into your OBD2 port, without having it plugged into your computer. Wait like 5 seconds (not 100% you even need to wait the 5 sec). Then, plug it in.

How to use iCar2 adapter for BMW X1 F48 coding Vgate iCar2. Wifi OBD2 adapter: It was available with me came in handy. 13) Plug the BMW scanner 1.4 cable with vehicle via OBD diagnostic socket. The label should be facing to the door with the LED light turn ON. If your BMW model has 22-pin diagnostic socket, you properly need another BMW 20-pin to OBD2 16-Pin Connector.

If i could give this 10 stars I would. One very important note - I almost tossed this in the trash as it would only read a small subset of the obd data and not srs or airbag data or even allow reprogramming.

I'd really like to use this software. Last edited by bmdubya1198; at 07:20 PM. I've gotten it to work on Win8.1 64-bit, but never tried on Win10.
Auto Start/Stop system OFF by default 2. Auto fold/unfold ORVM with lock/unlock Indian variant X1 F48 does not have the hardware pertaining to the front passenger seat belt reminder!!
It will be nice if someone has Carly or the E-Sys in Bangalore, so that they can be compared. Maybe, they can activate a couple of things that the BimmerCode couldn’t. 🔴-D and ISIS - Similarities and Differences 🔴 This is good inf. But in the end it does work. I could set the flashing on unlock, the daylight running lights, the oil service reminder, all those 'coding' goodies you read about.
It will read most sections but not the DME (engine) section. To fix this you need to make a solder bridge to connect pins 7 and 8 together. Do this if you can read most sections but DME comes up blank. The software makes no attempt to explain what the codes do beyond a basic string that is rarely clear. You will need to look up things on forums. Don't worry about it, your BMW dealer's people do that, too. Just make sure your laptop doesn't crash in the middle of writing or the like.
